My OcD like to latch onto stuff for a long time. Whenever I get “over” that OCD subject it’s almost always me giving in to it. I don’t want that to happen again. OCD has latched onto something again and I don’t want to lose to it again.
It latched onto my family, and if i don’t do certain stuff (breathing certain ways, not breathing at something more than once etc.) I feel like I’ve named something else has my mom. Idk what to do. Then there is the fear that some of it isn’t OCD. My mom is looking into therapy for me but until then some advice would be greatly appreciated. What if this isn’t OCD and this is just me looking for someone that says I don’t have to undo what I do. Help.

Hi there! It's one of the moderators of the forum here!
I am so sorry to hear you've been struggling recently and that you feel like your OCD tends to latch onto things- that can be so awful and it's really not fair!
Have you visited a GP practice with your mum and recived an official diagnosis? As after this, if they decide that you have OCD, they will be able to refer you to a therapist or perhaps offer some medication to help. It is such a horrible disorder and unfortunately only a trained doctor is able to tell you whether your thoughts are representing OCD or something else. I can definitely say though that what you describe does sound very similar to OCD and I am sorry you have to go through this!
I really would advise asking your mum to see a GP with you if you haven't already as this can really help and they can ensure you are taking the right steps to getting better.
Best wishes,

Dear Zoe,
My mom is looking into therapists but she hasn't found one yet for me. The process has been delayed because of other family stuff. I do hope to get into therapy soon.
Thank you,

Hi there!
Hope you're doing okay,
Has your mum taken you to a GP though? This could be really helpful as they could potentially diagnose you with OCD and if they do, they can find therapy specific to tackling OCD for you, known as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
Best wishes,
Zoe

Hi, I am 13, my name's Lilah and I have OCD. I have had it for a few years and have had lots of annoying thoughts, worries, and intrusive thoughts. I'm kind of worrying right now. I'm wondering if anyone else has a similar story? I'm really worrying right now about different things.

Hi, I am Izzy and I am 14 and I have super serious impact on your everyday life OCD. I have had OCD for it must be 7 years and at the moment I feel like all that's happening is it's getting a million times worse every second I am not helped. All the these intrusive thoughts and it's not doing me or anyone around me any good whats so ever. I am wondering at the moment is the right help even out there for me? If so were has it been for 7 years? The fact my OCD is an everyday thing makes me so tired and anxious.

Hi izzysymme14x, OCD can be really hard I agree! I get a lot of OCD too and it's tireing. All the what if's, and different thoughts. It would probably be good for you to get help, it has helped me. I'm not sure if you can see a therapist but that could maybe be helpful if you can, or read a book, there is also a really good documentery on kids who have OCD called Unstuck. I really recomend it, it was really good. I think there is probably help out there for you, everyone should be able to have help. I hope your OCD gets better too, it is something that you can recover from. Or at least manage better.

Hey Zoe,
I’m so sorry for not responding sooner. I’m sorta nervous and maybe afraid to go to my GP. What if they say u don’t have it, I always get nervous when going to the doctors.
Thank you,
wannab

Hi there, moderator here again!
I completely understand that and it's a completely natural feeling- but remember GPs are very used to hearing about people's thoughts and current struggles and will be nothing but understanding- if they don't know too much about OCD specifically, but think you may have it they will refer you to a professional who will know even more about what you are going through. I will link below a GP card on our website that you and your parent could take with you when going to the GP, which helps to get the conversation going and explains what you think you may have.
I know it's hard but it would be a very beneficial and positive step for you to take!
Best wishes,
Zoe
