Hello, recently my ocd and intrusive thoughts have started to get worse, I’m starting to avoid going places incase It causes any intrusive thoughts (mostly sexual intrusive thoughts) my thoughts are taking up all of my day, I think about them until I go to sleep which is also a struggle, a while ago I think I started to develop rocd with my partner, I know I love her and want to be with her forever but my head always focuses on if I love her and if she’s attractive and I’m always afraid in case my mind tries to tell me other people are attractive, I over analyse all of my memories to see if I’ve cheated on my partner and I always feel the need to confess something to her (etc cheating) which I know I haven’t done but it’s starting to get a lot to deal with and I don’t ever wanna push my partner away, I’m just very afraid and I know people can get advice and support on here, thank you, just know if you are suffering from ocd right now that you aren’t alone and there’s always help and support out there.

Hello! I don’t know much about rocd, but I just skimmed an article about it and it says to have an open dialogue with your partner, well this is what they would do in therapy. Does you partner know about your thoughts? If not, it might help to tell her, but make it clear that the thoughts have no legitimacy! You know deep down that the thoughts aren’t real, it’s clear you love her very much. Also, even though you are in a relationship, you are allowed to find other people attractive. It’s normal! You also said that because of your intrusive thoughts you’ve started to avoid going places. Maybe instead of spending a lot of time out, you could spend five minutes one day, expose yourself to the intrusive thoughts for five minutes, and keep doing this until you feel confident enough to start going out for ten. Keep adding time on, slowly, when you begin to feel more confident. I don’t know how much that will help, but it’s probably worth a try. Good luck! You can beat OCD!
