Hi guys, I’m starting to feel really alone now everyone around me doesn’t understand what I’m going through and how it affects me, I feel like everyone on here is the people who truly understand, I wanna go see a doctor about my ocd and try my hardest to get a diagnosis to start my journey of recovery but I’m really scared and don’t think anyone will understand, I don’t even know what to say to the doctor, can someone help me if they’ve ever went to a gp about intrusive thoughts etc, I feel like I might have had autism from a young age and developed ocd in my later teens, it’s really hard because I have difficulties remembering stuff people has said so I don’t even feel like cbt would help me due to auditory processing difficulties, hope everyone is doing ok, thanks

Hello! I hope you’re feeling a bit better now I’m sorry you’re feeling so alone in your thoughts. It can be hard for our families to understand our thoughts as they don’t experience them themselves and don’t understand why we can’t just brush them off. I’m sure they do care though, and want you to feel better. I really recommend going to a GP or OCD specialist to talk about your OCD. If your stuck with what to say to the doctor, you could write a little bit about your feelings or thoughts on a piece of paper and either read it out to the doctor or give it to them. It may help you get out what you want the doctor to know. I’ve never been to the GP about intrusive thoughts before, but I advise that you mention your thoughts and how they’re causing you anxiety. Instead of doing the normal CBT therapy, you could do Exposure and Response Prevention, which is a form of CBT, but won’t involve as much auditory processing. I suggest you read up on it. It may work for you! I hope it does! You can do this! Good luck! I’m here for you
